Grave Stones (The Falconer Files Book 9) Page 21

No doubt the knife that Falconer had knocked out of Lattimer’s hand would produce traces of Twelvetrees’ blood, as he had almost boasted that that was the weapon he had used, then cunningly concealed it back in one of his collections.

  ‘Sir?’ said Carmichael.

  ‘Yes?’

‘Shall we just have a look round while we’re here, see what he’s collected?’

‘Why not?’ replied Falconer. ‘Shall we start with upstairs? He’s not likely to have much up there, but we might as well take a look.’

Boy, were they in for one hell of a surprise!

Halfway up the stairs, Carmichael halted. ‘Sir?’ he said, again with an interrogative inflection in his voice.

  ‘Yes, Carmichael?’

Falconer sighed, wondering what was coming next.

‘I suppose this means he won’t be coming over to look at my Smurfs now.’
